The Nigerian Airline Dilemma

Airlines in nigeria

We have had a lot of bad things to say about Nigerian Airlines in the past years and very few good ones. Air Peace raised the banner of innovation and inclusion and gave Nigeria another win against the odds.
“Nigeria has needed a local airline flying directly to the UK for a number of years. AIR PEACE proudly wears the badge of. Made in Nigeria. It is a symbol of our collective effort to showcase our capabilities to the world. From the skilled hands that maintain the aircraft to the warm smiles of the cabin crew, every aspect of Air Peace reflects the spirit of our nation.” These were the words of the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Doris Uzoka-Anite as she described the feat by AIR PEACE.

According to sources like pulse.ng and some others, we have identified some of the best-performing and worst-performing airlines in Nigeria. This classification was based on a lot of factors like; the rate of flight cancellations/delays, customer experience, and rates.
IBOM AIR has received the award for the best airline in Nigeria more than once, which speaks of its class and dedication. However, we believe that there are other airlines worthy of applause and recognition.

According to Pulse, using the flight cancellations and delays statistics, here are the top 3 and worst 3 airlines.
Amongst the top 3,
1. We have IBOM AIR with 32% delays. They flew 2312 flights, delayed 746 flights, and canceled only six.
2. Next on their list was GREEN AFRICA with only 375 delays. It flew 1182 flights, delayed 443 flights, and canceled only 16 which is still in the good range.
3. Value Jet had only 32% of its flights delayed. It flew 766 times, was delayed 248 times, and canceled only 15 flights

Among the worst 3;
1. Overland had up to 84% of their flights delayed!
2. United Airlines, which should not be confused with United Nigeria Airlines.
3. Dana Air
These airlines are not without their days of excellent performance, however, these data were pulled from a period and with the hopes that changes will occur as they seek to improve their services.
